Residency – Anagrafe registration
The anagrafe is the register of all the people living in a given town, and signing up is compulsory.
When registering, the applicant is establishing residency in that town. When moving town, people are responsible for registering at their new town’s anagrafe.
Also, since many services are locally managed and delivered, it is of utmost importance to register at your local anagrafe, as you may only be able to use those services if you are registered. For example: you may need to prove that you are resident in a given town to be included in the local ASL register (national health system) and enjoy free national health care. You may need to prove that you have been living in Italy for a number of years to gain permanent residency or to apply for citizenship or to access some benefits, and some Italian authorities only accept proofs of residency issued by local anagrafe.
It is therefore recommended not to postpone the anagrafe registration.
We can guide you through the entire process, fill in forms for you, list, gather and check the documents required and mediate with the Comune. Do not hesitate to contact us for an informative consultation or for full support throughout the registration process.
