Citizenship jure matrimonii (by marriage)
If you are married to an Italian citizen, you can claim Italian citizenship after three years of marriage if you reside abroad, or after two years of marriage if you reside in Italy. The time is halved if you have children together. An important requirement is having a B1 (lower intermediate) level in Italian.

Citizenship by residency
You can claim Italian citizenship after a number of years spent in Italy.
Non-EU citizens can claim Italian citizenship after 10 years spent in Italy.
EU citizens can claim Italian citizenship after 4 years spent in Italy.
In both cases, the applicant must prove they have a B1 (lower intermediate) level in Italian.
