1. Can I buy a property in Italy if I’m not a citizen nor resident? Yes, you can if Italian citizens are allowed to buy a property in your country. This is called reciprocity.
2. Can I get a loan in Italy to buy a property if I’m not resident? Technically you can, in practical terms banks tend to favour Italian residents working in Italy.
3. Do I need a lawyer to buy a property in Italy? Technically you don’t; in practical terms, if you are not familiar with the buying process, you do not master the language and do not know habits, conventions, rules, laws etc. it’s advisable to have a professional by your side.
4. Can I live permanently in Italy if I buy a property there? Unfortunately buying a property in Italy doesn’t allow you to get residency.
5. How can I move to Italy? You may need a visa according to your citizenship.
6. Can I get a visa once in Italy? As a general rule you can’t, you can apply for a visa in your country of residence.
7. I am an EU citizen, can I freely move to Italy and live there permanently? You can move to Italy and live there, but you are still subject to some requirements.
8. I am an EU citizen, can my non-EU family members join me in Italy? Yes, they can, however, they are subject to fulfil some requirements.
